What is a shoe in Virtual Reality?

This speculative project evokes the uncertainty of the future, the escapism of reality and the freedom of complete detachment of yourself through footwear and the virtual surroundings. Projecting that we will be a fully digital immersed society: Will we be only using one shoe, but owning hundreds of shoes in for this new immersed world? A shoe that fits in the real world, but can have endless possibilities in the virtual world?

The Hyperreal Collection is my master's project in Footwear Design. The shoes are made from a scan glitch that was transformed in 3D. Based on the studies Hyperreality and making reference to Jean Baudrillard’s Simulacra and Simulation. They represent an evolution of movement as they glide into the leg. Organic form meets the triangulation of a mesh. Presented in Virtual Reality.
